If you've been out of state whitewater rafting and kayaking you might find the rivers here more forgiving, so if you're not from around here don't forget that many of the sections here are safe for beginners. The wonderful Greenville County scenery and the playfulness of the water will make you feel great. The Trail to North Saluda Reservoir stretch of North Saluda River in Greenville County is 1.3 miles long and it is classified as a class IV(V) section by American Whitewater. This is a very short stretch so you'll have to walk back to the start over and
over. Getting some good exercise and just being out on the river for a while have a lot of people coming here. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, in this general area you'll find lots of paddling places. There are campgrounds quite near the
river where you can camp. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. The put-in location is a short drive from Greenville, please print out a copy of the road map further down the page so you won’t get lost.
Briefly about the general area: A tremendous place near North Saluda River is Trammel Gap; Big Falls is always fun to check out. The warmest time of the year brings highs in the 80's to North Saluda River with nighttime lows in
the 50's. Daytime highs through the wintertime are in the 40's, and throughout the dark hours in the winter at North Saluda River temperatures descend to the 20's. North Saluda River is a quite wet place usually with a great deal of rain; March is the wettest month with most rain while April is the month with the least amount of precipitation.
