The wonderful South Carolina scenery and the water flowing gracefully down North Saluda River have people coming here. The put-in location is a short drive from Greenville, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. The Trail to North Saluda Reservoir stretch of North Saluda River is 1.3 miles long and is according to American Whitewater a class IV(V) section of whitewater. You can pitch a tent or park your RV at a nearby campground. If you've been whitewater rafting and kayaking outside South Carolina you might find
the rivers here a bit more manageable, so don't forget that the rivers in this state are less demanding. This is an extremely short section so it's not like you're gonna spend hours on the river in one stretch. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, but if you don’t have
reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. A bit of exercise and just hanging out with mother nature have a lot of people coming here. There are so many sections to paddle in this river system, the Trail to North Saluda Reservoir section is just one of many.
Briefly about the general area: North Saluda River mostly gets a good deal of precipitation; the month with most of the rain is March; the driest month of the year is April. Trammel Gap is a good place to stop at close by; Big Falls is a gorgeous place to stop at while you're at North
Saluda River. All through the summer months highs here at North Saluda River reach the 80's. When the night sets in temperatures plunge down into the 50's. The cold days of the winter come with highs in the 40's; night lows in the 20's for North Saluda River.
