The rivers for whitewater rafting and kayaking in this state are often easier than in other states, so if you're not from around here don't forget that rivers here are less demanding. This section of North Saluda River is 3 miles long and is rated by American Whitewater as a class II-III section. A bit of exercise and a chance to spend some time outdoors are sure to keep you coming back for more. You can pitch a tent or park your RV at a nearby campground. The starting point is not too far from Greenville, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road
map further down the page. The wonderful Greenville County scenery and the water flowing gracefully down North Saluda River are reasons enough to come here and paddle. This is a pretty short section so better bring some good walking shoes. This river system is full of great paddling
stretches, the Route 89 to Saluda River stretch is just one of them. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way this is an area with plenty of spots for that. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car.

The warmest time of the year at North Saluda River comes with high temperatures in the 80's, and through the night it cools down to the 60's. The wintertime brings highs down to the 40's, and nighttime lows at North Saluda River all through the wintertime ordinarily sink into the 20's.
