The natural beauty of Greenville County and the cool fresh water are in themselves reasons enough to come here to paddle. The put-in location is a short drive from Brevard, as you can see on the road map further down. There are a few other stretches in this river system that can be paddled as well. A good workout and spending some quality time in nature have people coming from far and near. There's camping available near South Saluda River. Whitewater rafting and kayaking in this state is often easier than elsewhere, so keep in mind that rivers here
are not as hard as elsewhere. This section is quite short so it's not like you're gonna spend hours on the river in one stretch. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. The Blyth

Briefly about the general area: All the water falling down from the sky makes South Saluda River a wet place; of all the months in a year March is the one with the most rain, and the driest of the months is January. A short journey to Blythe Shoals is always worthwhile; close by
Lower Gap is a perfect location to go. For the duration of the days of summer at South Saluda River highs are usually in the 80's, and the overnight is a little cooler of course, usually in the 60's. For the duration of the winter the highs are mostly in the 40's while South Saluda River overnight low temperatures through the wintertime are in the 20's.
