The wonderful Greenville/ Pickens County scenery and the water flowing gracefully down South Saluda River attract people from near and far. Getting a good workout and a chance to spend some time outdoors are sure to keep you coming back for more. For all you camping people there are campgrounds nearby. This river system has a few good paddling sections and the Table Rock Reservoir to Highway 288 section is one of them. If you have the time you can make     this a two day trip, so go ahead and pack your camp stove. The Table Rock Reservoir to Highway 288 section of South Saluda River in South Carolina is 15 miles long and it is classified as a class II-III section by American Whitewater. If you've been whitewater rafting and kayaking outside this state you might find the rivers here a bit more forgiving, so if you're not from around here don't forget that many of the rivers here are not very demanding. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way this area has a large number of paddling spots. Briefly about the general area: If you want a little side visit, try Dowthit Cove. All the water falling down from the sky makes South Saluda River a wet spot; the month of March is the wettest with most of the rain, and January is when it's the driest. For   the duration of the warm days of summer here at South Saluda River, high temperatures mostly reach the 80's, and through the night it cools down to the 60's. Highs throughout the winter are ordinarily in the 40's with winter lows in the 20's overnight here at South Saluda River.
