This section of Middle Tyger River is 2 miles long and has been rated as a class III section by American Whitewater. The nature scenery of Spartanburg County and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream have people coming here. If you're coming from Spartanburg it's not a long drive at all to the put-in location, as you can see on the road map further down. Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in this state tend to be more forgiving than the national average, so if you're not from around here don't forget that many runs in this state |

are very easy. Great exercise and a chance to spend some time outdoors are sure to keep you coming back for more. If you'll be staying in a hotel you're in luck, lodging is available very near the river, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. The
| Duncan to Startex stretch is the only paddling stretch along Middle Tyger River. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking around here you'll find a large number of good rivers. This is a pretty short section so it's not like you're gonna spend hours on the river in one stretch.
Briefly about the general area:
The warmest time of the year brings highs in the 80's to Middle Tyger River. Once the sun is down it drops down to the 60's. Daytime highs during the wintertime are in the 50's with winter lows in the 20's overnight here at Middle Tyger River.
