This stretch of North Tyger River is 6 miles long and is a class II(III) section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. If you've been whitewater rafting and kayaking outside South Carolina you might find the rivers here a bit more manageable, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that a lot of the rivers here are suitable for beginners. Getting your paddling muscles activated and just hanging out with mother nature will make
you glad you came. The Route 231 to Route 113 stretch is one of a few paddling stretches in this river system. The wonderful South Carolina scenery and the water flowing gracefully down North Tyger River are in themselves reasons enough to come here to paddle. There aren’t any
hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. This stretch has has enough mileage, it's good length for a morning trip. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking there are lots of good rivers for that around here.
Briefly about the general area: Nesbit Shoals is an inspiring place to explore during your stay; don't leave North Tyger River without first paying a visit to Harrison Shoals. During the summer at North Tyger River
highs are ordinarily in the 80's. Once the sun is down it falls down to the 60's. Highs through the winter are ordinarily in the 50's, and night lows at North Tyger River throughout the winter usually dip into the 20's. All the water falling down from the sky makes North Tyger River a wet site; March is when you get the most rain here while November is the month with the least amount of precipitation.
