  The scenic beauty of Spartanburg County and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream make the trip here worthwhile. Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in South Carolina tend to be more forgiving than the national average, so you'd better keep in mind that a lot of the rivers in this state are suitable for beginners. The Route 231 to Route 113 stretch of North Tyger River in South Carolina is 6 miles long and is rated
    by American Whitewater as a class II(III) section. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way there are lots of good rivers for that around here. On this section you do get some distance, it's perfect
for a one day trip. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. This river system has a few good paddling sections and the Route 231 to Route 113 section is one of them. There's camping available near North Tyger River. If you're coming from Spartanburg it's not a long drive at all to the starting location, as you can see on the road map further down.

Nesbit Shoals is a beautiful spot to go to while you're at North Tyger River. This is a popular spot for people from Pauline, and a short visit to Harrison Shoals is always worthwhile. This river is so perfect. Croft State Park is both glorious and striking, and it's next to North Tyger River. A good deal of rainfall falls at North Tyger River. The month with most of the rain is March; November meanwhile is the driest month. All through the summer, highs ordinarily are in the 80's at North Tyger River. When the night sets in temperatures sink down into the 60's. Highs through the wintertime are usually in the 50's, and nighttime lows at North Tyger River throughout the wintertime mostly fall into the 20's.
