Bad trip...Alot of trees. Still fun took @ 7hrs. The creek where you put in is not marked. you will see the river at the creek. Says clifford deyoung Whitewater rafting and kayaking in South Carolina is often easier than elsewhere, so if you're not from around here don't forget that a lot of the rivers here are suitable for beginners. The nature scenery of Spartanburg County and the water flowing gracefully down South Tyger River are in themselves reasons enough     to come here to paddle. The put-in is not too far from Spartanburg, there's a road map further down the page with more info on that. If you hurry you can run this stretch in a day but why not make it an overnighter, so pack your sleeping bag. This section of South Tyger River in South Carolina is 10 miles long and is rated by American Whitewater as a class II-III section. Getting some good exercise and just being out on the river for a while are sure to keep you coming back for more. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking there are lots of good places for that around here. The Route 86 to Route 113 section is one of a few paddling sections in this river system. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up   quick. Briefly about the general area: Through the warm months highs here at South Tyger River reach the 80's. Once the sun is down it falls down to the 60's. During the winter highs are in the 50's; night lows in the 20's for South Tyger River. The high level of rainfall makes South Tyger River a quite wet spot; March is the month that gets the most rain, and September is when it's the driest.
