The Route 86 to Route 113 section of South Tyger River in Spartanburg County is 10 miles long and has been determined     by American Whitewater to be a class II-III section. The starting location is a short drive from Spartanburg, as you can see on the road map further down. The scenic beauty of South Carolina and the playfulness of the water attract people from near and far. Great exercise and just hanging out with mother nature have a lot of people coming here. There are some good stretches to paddle in this river system, the Route 86 to Route 113 stretch is one of them. If you have the time you can make this a two day trip, so why not pack your camping stuff too. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking this area has a large number of paddling places. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. Briefly about the general area: All through the summer highs   here at South Tyger River get into the 80's with night lows in the 60's. The winter comes with highs in the 50's with temperatures at South Tyger River dipping down into the 20's all through winter nights. A large amount of rainfall falls at South Tyger River; the wettest month of the year is commonly March, that's the one that rains the most, and September meanwhile is the driest month.
