Says clifford deyoung The Route 86 to Route 113 section of South Tyger River in South Carolina is 10 miles long and has been rated as a class II-III section by American Whitewater. The natural beauty of South Carolina and the playfulness of the water are reasons enough to come here and paddle. This is one of a small number of paddling     stretches in this river system, there are a few others too. A bit of exercise and just being out on the river for a while have a lot of people coming here. If you hurry you can run this stretch in a day but why not make it an overnighter, so go ahead and pack your sleeping bag. And of course, there are campgrounds nearby. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking in this general area you'll find lots of paddling rivers. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in South Carolina tend to be more forgiving than the national average, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that many of the rivers here   are not very demanding. Briefly about the general area: South Tyger River mostly gets much precipitation; the month with most of the rain is March, and September is when it's the driest. All through the long summer days here at South Tyger River, high temperatures typically get into the 80's, and all through summer nights temperatures are in the 60's. The cold days of the wintertime come with highs in the 50's while South Tyger River overnight low temperatures during the winter are in the 20's.
