The beautiful scenery of South Carolina and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water beats anything. This section of Whetstone Creek is 1.5 miles long and is a class II-III(V) section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. If you've been out of state whitewater rafting and kayaking you might find the rivers here more forgiving, so don't forget that quite a few of the sections here are pretty easy. Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way in this general area you'll find lots of paddling spots.
The Sandy Ford Access Road to Sandy Ford section is the only paddling section along Whetstone Creek. There are campgrounds quite near the river where you can camp. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your
car. Getting a good workout and a chance to spend some time outdoors have people coming from far and near. The starting location is a reasonable drive from Seneca, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. This is a pretty short section so no need to bring snacks. The Blue Ridge Mountains scenery is wonderful.

Whetstone Creek through the summer months highs are in the 80's while night lows are typically in the 50's. For the period of the winter highs are usually in the 40's while the cold winter nights at Whetstone Creek are in the 20's.
