The Highway 85 to first bridge section of Redwater is 3 miles long and is a class I(II) section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. The beautiful scenery of Lawrence County and the cool fresh water make the trip here worthwhile. This section is quite short so it's not like you're gonna spend hours on the river in one stretch. If you've been whitewater rafting and kayaking outside South Dakota you might find the rivers here a bit more manageable, so don't forget that lots of rivers here are good for beginners. nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. For all you camping people there are campgrounds nearby.
