Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in this state tend to be more challenging than the national average, so better not forget that many of the sections here are not safe for beginners. The put-in is not too far from Crossville, as you can see on the road map further down. This is a pretty short section so better bring some good walking shoes. The Jeep Trail to Fall Creek stretch of Basin Creek in Tennessee is 3 miles long and is rated by American Whitewater as a class V section. The beautiful scenery of Rhea County and the cool fresh water will make
you feel great. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. Whitewater paddling here in the Cumberland Plateau Mountains is a great experience.
For all you camping people there are campgrounds nearby. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, in this general area you'll find lots of paddling rivers. Basin Creek doesn't have a lot of paddling sections, the Jeep Trail to Fall Creek section is the only one. A bit of exercise and just being out on the river for a while have people coming from far and near.
Briefly about the general area: The warmest time of the year brings highs in the 80's to Basin Creek, and during summer nights temperatures are in the
60's. Through the winter the highs are frequently in the 40's, and winter nights come with lows in the 20's to Basin Creek. Lots of fun awaits you along this river. Basin Creek gets a great deal of water; through the month of March you get the most rain around here, and the
driest month is October. This site, the Cumberland Plateau Mountains, has so much outdoors fun things. It's always perfect to have a look at Basin Falls, and why not pop by Buzzard Point also if you're here. You simply ought to go to Basin Rock if you're here at Basin Creek, and a good site nearby is Chickenhouse Hollow.
