The put-in location is a short drive from Crossville, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. The Jeep Trail to Fall Creek section of Basin Creek in Rhea County is 3 miles long and has been determined by American Whitewater to be a class V section. If you've been whitewater rafting and kayaking outside this state you might find the rivers here a bit more challenging, so if you're not from around here don't forget that a lot of the rivers here are not suitable for beginners. You might have to settle for a hotel
a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. There's camping available near Basin Creek. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking this is an area with plenty of rivers for that. This
stretch is short so no need to bring snacks. Basin Creek doesn't have a lot of paddling sections, the Jeep Trail to Fall Creek section is the only one. Getting your paddling muscles activated and spending some quality time in nature are great attractions for lots of people. When you're paddling down a Cumberland Plateau Mountains river like this one you always get great scenery along the way too. The nature scenery of Rhea County and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream have people coming here.

Basin Creek, and nearby you hit upon Buzzard Point. The high level of precipitation makes Basin Creek a reasonably wet place; March is when you get the most rain here; October on the other hand is the driest. All through the months of summer highs here at Basin Creek reach the
80's while nighttime lows are regularly in the 60's. The winter comes with highs in the 40's, and during the dark hours in the wintertime at Basin Creek temperatures sink to the 20's.
