county,
Jeep Trail to Fall Creek section whitewater kayaking, rafting, and paddling information.
CLASS V 3 miles
The starting location is a short drive from Crossville, there's a road map further down the page with more info on that. The beautiful scenery of Tennessee and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water are reasons enough to come here and paddle. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, there are lots of good spots for that around here. The rivers for whitewater rafting and kayaking here in Tennessee are often tougher than in other states, so better not forget that many of the sections here are not safe for beginners. A good
workout and just hanging out with mother nature are great reasons to come. The Jeep Trail to Fall Creek stretch of Basin Creek is 3 miles long and is a class V section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river
if you want to stay the night, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. This stretch is short so no need to bring snacks. The beauty of the Cumberland Plateau Mountains is a great plus for this river. If you're a camper you can camp at one of the great campgrounds nearby. Basin Creek doesn't have a lot of paddling stretches, the Jeep Trail to Fall Creek stretch is the only one.
Briefly about the general area: The beauty of mother nature reveals herself at Basin Falls, and Buzzard Point is quite close. Throughout the warm days
of summer highs here at Basin Creek reach the 80's. Once the sun is down it dips down to the 60's. For the duration of the winter this place gets highs in the 40's with winter lows in the 20's overnight here at Basin Creek. This river is so perfect. A great deal of rainfall
falls at Basin Creek; during March this area sees the most rain, and October meanwhile is the driest month. Yeah, come up here to the Cumberland Plateau Mountains for a nice time. No need to travel far to visit interesting stuff like Basin Rock, and you might also want to pay a visit to Chickenhouse Hollow while you're here at Basin Creek.
