The Bridge on FS road off Highway 8/111 to Highway 127 stretch of Big Brush Creek is 8.5 miles long and is a class III-V+ section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. Whitewater rafting and kayaking in this state is often more difficult than elsewhere, so if you're not from around here don't forget that lots of rivers here are not for beginners. The starting location is a short drive from Chattanooga, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get
to one, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. The nature scenery of Sequatchie County and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream are reasons enough to come here and paddle. The campgrounds here at Big Brush Creek are pretty good. The beauty
of the Cumberland Plateau Mountains is a great plus for this river. Getting some good exercise and a chance to spend some time outdoors are great reasons to come. This stretch has has enough mileage, suitable for an afternoon trip. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking around here you'll find a large number of good rivers. The Bridge on FS road off Highway 8/111 to Highway 127 stretch is the only paddling stretch along Big Brush Creek.
