This stretch of Big Brush Creek in Sequatchie County is 8.5 miles long and has been determined by American Whitewater to be a class III-V+ section. The starting point is not too far from Chattanooga, as you can see on the road map further down. The nature scenery of Tennessee and the water flowing gracefully down Big Brush Creek make the trip here worthwhile. This is a pretty decent length section, good for a one day paddling trip. Great exercise and spending some quality time in nature are sure to keep you coming back for more. The river winds through
the Cumberland Plateau Mountains and you get great scenery. The Bridge on FS road off Highway 8/111 to Highway 127 section is the only paddling section along Big Brush Creek. And of course, there are campgrounds nearby. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, but if you
don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. The average Tennessee whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be a bit harder to master than those in other states, so keep in mind that lots of rivers here are not for beginners. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way in this general area you'll find lots of paddling rivers.
Briefly about the general area: At Big Brush Creek during the summertime highs are in the 80's with overnight lows in the 60's. The winter brings highs down to the 40's, and
all through the dark hours in the wintertime at Big Brush Creek temperatures dip to the 20's. Big Brush Creek is a quite wet place commonly with a lot of rainfall; the wettest month of the year is generally March, that's the one that rains the most while October is typically the driest month.
