Whitewater rafting and kayaking in Tennessee is often tougher than elsewhere, so you'd better keep in mind that many of the rivers here are not very forgiving. The beautiful scenery of Tennessee and the cool fresh water beats anything. This is the only paddling stretch along Big Creek. Great exercise and a chance to spend some time outdoors will have you coming back for more. scenery of the Great Smoky Mountains is great. This section of Big Creek is 5.9 miles long and has been rated as a class III-IV+ section by American Whitewater. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way around here you'll find a large number of good rivers.
On this section you do get some distance, you can easily run it on an afternoon. For all you camping people there are campgrounds nearby. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination.
Briefly about the general area: For the period of the summertime here at Big Creek, high temperatures commonly get into the 80's; through summer nights temperatures are in the 60's. During the wintertime highs are mostly in the 40's,
and after the sun is down during the wintertime temperatures at Big Creek drop into the 20's. You just can't picture the amount of outdoors enjoyable stuff the Great Smoky Mountains has to offer. A lot of rainfall falls at Big Creek; the wettest month of the year is ordinarily
