Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in Tennessee tend to be more challenging than the national average, so if you're not from around here don't forget that rivers here are less forgiving. The wonderful Jackson County scenery and the water flowing gracefully down Blackburn Fork are reasons enough to come here and paddle. This section is long enough for an overnight trip if you take your time, so why not     pack your camp stove too. Getting some good exercise and just hanging out with mother nature have people coming from far and near. The starting location is a reasonable drive from Cookevi lle, there's a road map further down the page with more info on that. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. The TN 6294 to Roaring River section is the only paddling section along Blackburn Fork. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking this is an area with plenty of places for that. Briefly about the general area: The high level of precipitation makes Blackburn Fork a pretty wet place; of all the months in a year March is the one with the most rain while October is the month with the least amount of precipitation. Tom Allen Hollow is a great place to spend some   time at. Summertime highs at Blackburn Fork typically tend to be in the 80's. Once the sun is down it plunges down to the 60's. Highs during the winter are regularly in the 40's while Blackburn Fork nighttime low temperatures during the winter are in the 20's.
