This section of Brush Creek is 1.3 miles long and is according to American Whitewater a class V+ section of whitewater. Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in Tennessee are harder than the national norm, so you'd better keep in mind that many of the rivers here are not very forgiving. The put-in is not too far from Chattanooga, there's a road map further down the page with more info on that. And of course, there are campgrounds nearby. This is a very short stretch so you'll have to walk back to the start over and over. Getting your paddling muscles
activated and a chance to spend some time outdoors have a lot of people coming here. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way this is an area with plenty of places for that. No shortage of good hotels, but if you don’t have reservations you might end
up sleeping in your car. The Seventh Day Adventist Compound to Roaring Creek section is the only paddling section along Brush Creek. Whitewater paddling here in the Cumberland Plateau Mountains is a great experience. The scenic beauty of Tennessee and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water make the trip here worthwhile.
Briefly about the general area: That right there is heaps of fun stuff already but it goes on, the Cumberland Plateau Mountains has it all. For the duration of the days of summer highs here at Brush Creek get into the 80's
while nighttime lows are commonly in the 60's. All through the winter this place gets highs in the 40's while the cold winter nights at Brush Creek are in the 20's. Brush Creek gets a great deal of water; the wettest month of the year is ordinarily March, that's the one that
rains the most, and the driest of the months is October. Since you're here at Brush Creek why not visit Polecat Hollow, and Hurricane Point is nearby and always glorious to check out.
