Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in this state tend to be more challenging than the national average, so if you're not from around here don't forget that many of the rivers here are not very forgiving. The beautiful scenery of Tennessee and the cool fresh water attract people from near and far. This river system has a few good paddling stretches and the Barker Camp Road to Bowater Parking lot section is one of them. places. The Barker Camp Road to Bowater Parking lot section of Cain Creek is 6 miles long and has been determined by American Whitewater to be a class IV-V section. Whitewater paddling here in the Cumberland Plateau Mountains is a great experience. And of course, there are campgrounds
| nearby. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. Getting some good exercise and spending some quality time in nature are sure to keep you coming back for more. This section is long enough to enjoy a good non stop paddle, it's good length for a morning trip. If you're coming from Chattanooga it's not a long drive at all to the starting location.

in the 80's; the nighttime is a tad chillier of course, mostly in the 60's. For the duration of the wintertime highs are ordinarily in the 40's; winter nights come with lows in the 20's to Cain Creek. Cain Creek gets a lot of water; the wettest month of the year is generally March,
that's the one that rains the most; October is the month with the least moisture.
You need to have a look at Little Bend while you're here at Cain Creek, and do schedule some time to visit Redbird Point if you have a chance. But wait, there's more amusing stuff to do in the Cumberland Plateau Mountains. A cool spot to pop by close to Cain Creek is Big Bend.
