The scenic beauty of Tennessee and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream have people coming here. The put-in location is a short drive from McMinnville, as you can see on the road map further down. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. The campgrounds here at Cain Creek are pretty good. This section of Cain Creek in Tennessee is 8 miles long and is according to American Whitewater a class II-V+ section of whitewater. Great exercise and just being out
on the river for a while have a lot of people coming here. There are some good stretches to paddle in this river system, the Fall Creek Falls State Park to Highway 30 stretch is one of them. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way this is an area with
plenty of spots for that. When you're paddling down a Cumberland Plateau Mountains river like this one you always get great scenery along the way too. The rivers for whitewater rafting and kayaking in this state are often tougher than in other states, so keep in mind that many of the sections here are not safe for beginners. On this section you do get some distance, you can easily run it on an afternoon.
Briefly about the general area: Cain Creek is a rather wet place mostly with a large amount of rain; March is the wettest month with most
rain while October is usually the driest month. Not enough hours in a day to enjoy the Cumberland Plateau Mountains. A wonderful site in close proximity to Cain Creek is Cave Hollow, and Piney Creek Falls is a glorious local attraction. All through the summertime at Cain Creek
highs are frequently in the 80's, and through summer nights temperatures are in the 60's. High temperatures through the winter are normally in the 40's; after the sun is down through the winter temperatures at Cain Creek descend into the 20's.
