The starting location is a reasonable drive from McMinnville, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. This stretch of Cain Creek in Tennessee is 8 miles long and is a class II-V+ section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. Getting some good exercise and just hanging out with mother nature will make you glad you came. The average Tennessee whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be harder to run than those in other states, so keep in mind that rivers here are less forgiving. There's camping available
near Cain Creek. The beautiful Cumberland Plateau Mountains scenery is an added bonus. The natural beauty of Van Buren County and the cool fresh water attract people from near and far. This is one of a small number of paddling sections in this river system, there are a few others
too. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking this area has a large number of paddling places. This section is long enough to enjoy a good non stop paddle, it's good length for a morning trip.

60's. The wintertime comes with highs in the 40's; nighttime lows through the wintertime for Cain Creek tend to be in the 20's. If you go for the outdoors you'll go for it here in the Cumberland Plateau Mountains. All the water falling down from the sky makes Cain Creek a wet
spot; the month of March is the wettest with most of the rain, and the driest month of the year is October. A delightful place next to Cain Creek is Cave Hollow, and don't leave Cain Creek without first paying a visit to Piney Creek Falls.
