The wonderful Tennessee scenery and the playfulness of the water beats anything. The put-in is not too far from McMinnville, as you can see on the road map further down. This stretch of Cain Creek in Tennessee is 8 miles long and has been rated as a class II-V+ section by American Whitewater. The beautiful Cumberland Plateau Mountains scenery is an added bonus. This stretch is mid length, good for a one day paddling trip. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem but if you don’t have reservations
you might end up sleeping in your car. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking there are lots of good places for that around here. For all you camping people there are campgrounds nearby. Whitewater rafting and kayaking in Tennessee is often more difficult than elsewhere,
so keep in mind that rivers here are not as easy as elsewhere. Getting some good exercise and a chance to spend some time outdoors have people coming from far and near. This river system has a few good paddling sections and the Fall Creek Falls State Park to Highway 30 section is one of them.
Briefly about the general area: High temperatures at Cain Creek through the warm days of summer are in the 80's. Throughout the dark hours of summer temperatures drop down into the 60's. Daytime highs through the wintertime are in the 40's, and nighttime
lows in the 20's for Cain Creek. If you want a delightful time in the great outdoors just come on up to the Cumberland Plateau Mountains. Cain Creek is a wet spot that gets a great deal of rainfall; March is the month that gets the most rain, and October is the month with the least moisture. A pleasant location to check out near Cain Creek is Cave Hollow; Piney Creek Falls is a delightful local attraction.
