This section of Citico Creek in Tennessee is 4 miles long and is according to American Whitewater a class III-IV section of whitewater. If you're coming from Knoxville it's not a long drive at all to the starting location. The wonderful Cherokee County scenery and the playfulness of the water are in themselves reasons enough to come here to paddle. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking around here you'll find a large number of good spots. Whitewater paddling here in the Great Smoky Mountains is a great experience. near Citico Creek. This section is long enough to enjoy a good non stop paddle, you can easily run it on an afternoon. There are some good stretches to paddle in this river system, the Indian Boundary to Below Pigs in Space stretch is one of them. You might have to settle for a
hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. The rivers for whitewater rafting and kayaking in this state are often tougher than in other states, so if you're not from around here don't forget that quite a few of the sections here are not easy. A good workout and spending some quality time in nature will have you coming back for more.
