CLASS I-II 12 miles
This stretch of Clear Fork in Tennessee is 12 miles long and is according to American Whitewater a class I-II section of whitewater. The average Tennessee whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be harder to run than those in other states, so don't forget that many runs in this state are not easy. If you're coming from Crossville it's not a long drive at all to the starting location. Getting some good exercise and spending some quality time in nature will have you coming back for more. This river system is full of great paddling sections, the
Gatewood Bridge to Brewster Bridge section is just one of them. If you're a camper you can camp at one of the great campgrounds nearby. The scenic beauty of Tennessee and the cool fresh water are in themselves reasons enough to come here to paddle. This stretch is long enough
for an overnight trip if you take your time, so pack your camp stove. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, there are lots of good rivers for that around here. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. When you're paddling down a Cumberland Plateau Mountains river like this one you always get great scenery along the way too.
