The starting location is a reasonable drive from Crossville. The Eastland Road to Caney Fork section of Clifty Creek in Tennessee is 0.98 miles long and is rated by American Whitewater as a class V section. The Cumberland Plateau Mountains scenery is wonderful. This is an extremely short stretch so you'll have to walk back to the start over and over. There are no other sections to paddle along Clifty Creek than the Eastland Road to Caney Fork section. The rivers for whitewater rafting and kayaking here in Tennessee are often tougher than in other states,
so keep in mind that many of the sections here are not safe for beginners. The nature scenery of Tennessee and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water are in themselves reasons enough to come here to paddle. For all you camping people there are campgrounds nearby. Getting your
paddling muscles activated and just being out on the river for a while are great attractions for lots of people. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way this is an area with plenty of spots for that. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem and if you make reservations in advance you're all set.

in the 40's with winter lows in the 20's overnight here at Clifty Creek. Clifty Creek is a wet spot that gets much precipitation; March is the wettest month with most rain, and October is the month with the least moisture.
