Tennessee whitewater - Coal Bank, Cumberland Plateau Mountains, Sequatchie County
Sequatchie
county,
ridge section whitewater kayaking, rafting, and paddling information.
The nature scenery of Sequatchie County and the cool fresh water beats anything. The average whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be a bit harder to master in this state than those in other states, so better not forget that many of the rivers here are not very forgiving. The starting location is a reasonable drive from Chattanooga. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking this is an area with plenty of rivers for that. Coal
Bank doesn't have a lot of paddling stretches, the ridge stretch is the only one. The river winds through the Cumberland Plateau Mountains and you get great scenery. Getting a good workout and just being out on the river for a while are sure to keep you coming back for more. This
is a very short section so you'll have to walk back to the start over and over. There's camping available near Coal Bank.
