There are no other stretches to paddle along Coal Bank than the ridge stretch. The beautiful Cumberland Plateau Mountains scenery is an added bonus. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. The natural beauty of Tennessee and the sparkling of the sunlight on the     water are reasons enough to come here and paddle. This is an extremely short stretch so you'd better be prepared to walk your kayak back to put-in a few times. If you're a camper you can camp at one of the great campgrounds nearby. The starting location is a reasonable drive from Chattanooga. Getting some good exercise and just hanging out with mother nature will make you glad you came. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way this area has a large number of paddling spots. Briefly about the general area: Coal Bank gets a good deal of water; all through the month of March you get the most rain around here while June is typically the driest month. You have to explore Wolfpen Point when you're here at Coal Bank. Summertime highs at Coal Bank typically tend to be in the 80's. Summer night lows descend down to the 60's.
