Whitewater rafting and kayaking in this state is often more difficult than elsewhere, so keep in mind that many runs in this state are not easy. The Barker Camp Road to Bowater Parking Lot stretch of Cooper Creek in Tennessee is 5 miles long and has been determined by American Whitewater to be a class IV-V+ section. Getting your paddling muscles activated and a chance to spend some time outdoors have a lot of people coming here. The nature scenery of Sequatchie/ Hamilton County and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water are reasons enough to come
here and paddle. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. If you're a camper you can camp at one of the great campgrounds nearby. This section is long enough to enjoy a good non
stop paddle, it's perfect for a one day trip. The beautiful Cumberland Plateau Mountains scenery is an added bonus. The Barker Camp Road to Bowater Parking Lot section is the only paddling section along Cooper Creek. Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way there are lots of good spots for that around here. to do in the Cumberland Plateau Mountains. Big Bend is an interesting place to check out while at Cooper Creek. If you're interested in cool geologic features, try Little Bend; since you're here, do take a tour to Redbird Point. Through the summertime at Cooper Creek temperatures
are mostly in the 80's. Once the sun is down it sinks down to the 60's. For the duration of the winter highs are in the 40's, and night lows in the 20's for Cooper Creek. Cooper Creek sees pretty high levels of precipitation; March is when you get the most rain here, and October is when it's the driest.
