Cascades section whitewater kayaking, rafting, and paddling information.
CLASS II-IV 1.5 miles
The average Tennessee whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be harder to run than those in other states, so better not forget that rivers here are not as easy as elsewhere. The nature scenery of Tennessee and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water make the trip here worthwhile. You can pitch a tent or park your RV at a nearby campground. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way this is an area with plenty of places for that. This is a somewhat short section so it's not like you're gonna spend hours on the river in
one stretch. There are no other sections to paddle along Cove Creek than the Cascades section. Lodging is available near the river, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. The put-in location is a reasonable drive from Sevierville, as you can see
on the road map further down. This section of Cove Creek in Tennessee is 1.5 miles long and is a class II-IV section of whitewater according to American Whitewater.
Briefly about the general area: High temperatures at Cove Creek through the days of summer are in the 80's. Once the sun is down it dips down to the 60's. Highs through the winter are frequently in the 40's, and nighttime lows in the 20's for Cove Creek. Cove Creek gets much water; all through the month of March you get the most rain around here, and the driest month of the year is October. Little Cove Gap is in close proximity to Cove Creek and is unquestionably a nice location to explore.
