If you're coming from Harriman it's not a long drive at all to the put-in location, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. The natural beauty of Tennessee and the playfulness of the water are reasons enough to come here and paddle. Getting a good workout and just hanging out with mother nature will make you glad you came. On this section you do get some distance, it's perfect for a one day trip. The Potter's Falls to Camp Austin stretch is one of a few paddling stretches in this river system. This stretch of Crooked
Fork Creek in Tennessee is 6.2 miles long and is according to American Whitewater a class III-IV section of whitewater. And of course, there are campgrounds nearby. The sections for whitewater rafting and kayaking here in Tennessee are often more challenging than in other states,
so keep in mind that lots of rivers here are not for beginners. When you're paddling down a Cumberland Plateau Mountains river like this one you always get great scenery along the way too. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking there are lots of good rivers for that around here. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set.

night it cools down to the 60's. The wintertime brings highs down to the 40's, and during the dark hours in the wintertime at Crooked Fork Creek temperatures fall to the 20's. Crooked Fork Creek is a relatively wet place ordinarily with a good deal of rainfall; the month of March
is the wettest with most of the rain while October is typically the driest month. If you haven’t been to Obed Wild & Scenic River, you should schedule some time for it while you're here.
