CLASS I-II 13 miles
I have 2 sons 11 and 14. Interested in white water rafting. What do you suggest? Says Terri
If you've been whitewater rafting and kayaking outside Tennessee you might find the rivers here a bit more challenging, so you'd better keep in mind that many runs in this state are not easy. The Sutton Dam to Antioch Bridge section of Daddy's Creek in Tennessee is 13 miles long and is a class I-II section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. The beautiful Cumberland Plateau Mountains scenery is an added bonus. If you have the time you can make
this a two day trip, so pack your sleeping bag. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. Getting a good workout and just hanging out with mother nature are great attractions for
lots of people. The wonderful Tennessee scenery and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water attract people from near and far. For all you camping people there are campgrounds nearby. Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way around here you'll find a large number of good rivers. The Sutton Dam to Antioch Bridge section is one of a few paddling sections in this river system. The put-in is not too far from Crossville, there's a road map further down the page with more info on that.
Briefly about the
general area: What would a spot like Daddy's Creek be without out of the ordinary close by marks like Horseshoe Bend, and Keating Hollow is a delightful place to spend some time. Through the summer here at Daddy's Creek, high temperatures regularly reach the 80's. Summer night
lows drop down to the 60's. Daytime highs through the wintertime are in the 40's with winter lows in the 20's overnight here at Daddy's Creek. All the water falling down from the sky makes Daddy's Creek a wet spot; most of the rain falls all through March, and the driest month
is October. So many enjoyable things to do here in the Cumberland Plateau Mountains, too delightful to be true. Don't leave Daddy's Creek without first checking out Little Horseshoe Bend.
