Tennessee whitewater - Deep Creek, Cumberland Plateau Mountains, Hamilton County Hamilton county, Mowbray to Soddy section whitewater kayaking, rafting, and paddling information.   CLASS V     1.75 miles   This section of Deep Creek in Hamilton County is 1.75 miles long and is a class V section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. The starting location is a short drive from Chattanooga, please print out a copy of the road map further down the page so you won’t get lost. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking this area has a large number of paddling spots. The wonderful Tennessee scenery and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water are reasons enough to come here and paddle. This is a somewhat short section so you'd better be prepared     to walk your kayak back to put-in a few times. The beautiful Cumberland Plateau Mountains scenery is an added bonus. A bit of exercise and just being out on the river for a while will make you glad you came. This is the only paddling stretch along Deep Creek. You can pitch a tent or park your RV at a nearby campground. If you've been whitewater rafting and kayaking outside Tennessee you might find the rivers here a bit more challenging, so you'd better keep in mind that many of the rivers here are not very forgiving. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. Briefly about the general area: Deep Creek is a pretty wet place commonly with a great deal of precipitation; most of the rain falls during March while October   is ordinarily the driest month. During the months of summer, highs generally are in the 80's at Deep Creek with overnight lows in the 60's. The winter brings highs down to the 40's with winter lows in the 20's overnight here at Deep Creek. You just can't imagine the amount of outdoors fun things the Cumberland Plateau Mountains has to offer. Iris Lovelady Spring is a striking site to check out while you're at Deep Creek. Clemmons Point is close at hand and always tremendous to pop by, and a short tour to Hineman Spring is always worthwhile.
