You can pitch a tent or park your RV at a nearby campground. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way around here you'll find a large number of good rivers. There are many good hotels to choose from, but do book a room before you come because it is a     very popular destination. The Hampton to Elizabethton stretch is one of many paddling stretches in this river system. The Hampton to Elizabethton stretch of Doe River in Tennessee is 8.5 miles long and is a class II-III section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. This section is long enough to enjoy a good non stop paddle, good for a one day paddling trip. Briefly about the general area: Go for a hike on the Stone Mountain Trail. All through the long summer days, highs ordinarily are in the 80's at Doe River, and the night is slightly colder of course, ordinarily in the 60's. Daytime highs throughout the wintertime are in the 40's with winter   lows in the 20's overnight here at Doe River. Long Hollow is a good spot to spend some time at; McCathern Spring is a great local attraction. The amount of rainfall that falls at Doe River is close to the national average; July is the wettest month with most rain; the driest of the months is October.
