The average whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be a bit harder to master in this state than those in other states, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that rivers here are less forgiving. Great exercise and a chance to spend some time outdoors have a lot of people coming here. If you're a camper you can camp at one of the great campgrounds nearby. The natural beauty of Carter County and the water flowing gracefully     down Doe River have people coming here. No need to look hard for hotels, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way around here you'll find a large number of good spots. On this section you do get some distance, it's perfect for a one day trip. This stretch of Doe River in Tennessee is 8.5 miles long and has been rated as a class II-III section by American Whitewater. The Hampton to Elizabethton section is one of many paddling sections in this river system. Briefly about the general area: All through the warm days of summer highs here at Doe River get into the 80's, and the night is somewhat chillier of course, frequently in the 60's. Highs through the wintertime are regularly in the 40's with temperatures   at Doe River dipping down into the 20's during winter nights. Long Hollow is a nice spot to explore, and McCathern Spring is an inspiring location to take a look at during your stay. There is a great hiking trail in the neighborhood of Doe River called the Stone Mountain Trail. Doe River is a good spot of common rainfall; most of the rain falls through July while October is the month with the least amount of precipitation.
