The to Citico Creek stretch of Doublecamp Creek is 3.17 miles long and is according to American Whitewater a class IV section of whitewater. Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in Tennessee tend to be more challenging than the national average, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that lots of rivers here are not for beginners. The natural beauty of Monroe County and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water make the trip here worthwhile. Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way this is an area
with plenty of rivers for that. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. The put-in is not too far from Knoxville, as you can see on the road map further down. The beauty of the Great Smoky Mountains
is a great plus for this river. Great exercise and a chance to spend some time outdoors have a lot of people coming here. This is a pretty short section so it's not like you're gonna spend hours on the river in one stretch. There are no other sections to paddle along Doublecamp Creek than the to Citico Creek section. The campgrounds here at Doublecamp Creek are pretty good.
Briefly about the general area: Take a hike on the Rocky Flats Trail, and hiking along the Mill Branch Trail is brilliant fun. Doublecamp Creek is a relatively wet place
frequently with a good deal of rainfall; the month of March is the wettest with most of the rain, and the driest month is October. For the duration of the warmest time of the year here at Doublecamp Creek, high temperatures generally reach the 80's. When the night sets in temperatures
plunge down into the 60's. The wintertime brings highs down to the 40's with winter lows in the 20's overnight here at Doublecamp Creek. Just can't get enough of the Great Smoky Mountains.
