Tennessee whitewater - Dunlap Creek, Cumberland Plateau Mountains, Cumberland/Bledsoe/Rhea County Cumberland/Bledsoe/Rhea county, Jolley Road to Piney River section whitewater kayaking, rafting, and paddling information.   CLASS III-IV     5.5 miles   The put-in is not too far from Crossville, as you can see on the road map further down. The nature scenery of Tennessee and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream will make you feel great. This stretch of Dunlap Creek is 5.5 miles long and is according to American Whitewater a class III-IV section of whitewater. There are no other stretches to paddle along Dunlap Creek than the Jolley Road to Piney River stretch. This stretch has has enough mileage, suitable for an afternoon trip. If you're a camper you can camp at one of the great campgrounds     nearby. If you've been out of state whitewater rafting and kayaking you might find the rivers here more demanding, so better not forget that many of the sections here are not safe for beginners. When you're paddling down a Cumberland Plateau Mountains river like this one you always get great scenery along the way too. There are nice comfortable hotels here, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, this area has a large number of paddling places. Great exercise and just being out on the river for a while have a lot of people coming here. Briefly about the general area: During the long summer days at Dunlap Creek temperatures are frequently in the 80's. When the night sets in temperatures sink down into the 60's. Throughout the wintertime   highs are ordinarily in the 40's, and winter nights come with lows in the 20's to Dunlap Creek. A trip to Dunlap Creek wouldn't be complete without taking a look at Stinging Fork Falls. Dunlap Creek typically gets a lot of rainfall; the month of March is the wettest with most of the rain; the driest month of the year is October.
