The put-in location is a short drive from Harriman, as you can see on the road map further down. This section of Emory River is 6.5 miles long and it is classified as a class II-IV section by American Whitewater. The rivers for whitewater rafting and kayaking here in Tennessee are often tougher than in other states, so don't forget that a large number of rivers in this state are not easy. Getting your paddling muscles activated and just hanging out with mother nature have a lot of people coming here. This stretch has has enough mileage, it's perfect
for a one day trip. The scenic beauty of Tennessee and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water are reasons enough to come here and paddle. This is one of a small number of paddling stretches in this river system, there are a few others too. If you're a camper you can camp at
one of the great campgrounds nearby. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking in this general area you'll find lots of paddling places. The wild scenery of the Cumberland Plateau Mountains is great. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car.
