This section of Emory River in Tennessee is 6.5 miles long and is according to American Whitewater a class II-IV section of whitewater. The starting point is not too far from Harriman, as you can see on the road map further down. The wonderful Tennessee scenery and the playfulness of the water are in themselves reasons enough to come here to paddle. This section is long enough to enjoy a good non stop paddle, you can easily run it on an afternoon. A good workout and just hanging out with mother nature will make you glad you came. rafting or kayaking river tends to be a bit harder to master than those in other states, so better not forget that a lot of the rivers here are not suitable for beginners. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular
destination. There are some good sections to paddle in this river system, the Coal loading facility at base of Ligias Ridge to Gobey Bridge section is one of them. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, in this general area you'll find lots of paddling spots. The beauty of the Cumberland Plateau Mountains is a great plus for this river. You can pitch a tent or park your RV at a nearby campground.

through the night it cools down to the 60's. The wintertime comes with highs in the 40's while the cold winter nights at Emory River are in the 20's.
