Whitewater rafting and kayaking in Tennessee is often more difficult than elsewhere, so you'd better keep in mind that rivers here are less forgiving. For all you camping people there are campgrounds nearby. The river winds through the Cumberland Plateau Mountains and you get great scenery. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. This river system has a few good paddling     stretches and the Emory River Canyon - Highway 62 to Nemo section is one of them. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking this area has a large number of paddling places. The nature scenery of Tennessee and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream are in themselves reasons enough to come here to paddle. A bit of exercise and a chance to spend some time outdoors have people coming from far and near. The Emory River Canyon - Highway 62 to Nemo stretch of Emory River in Tennessee is 7 miles long and has been determined by American Whitewater to be a class II-III section. This stretch is mid length, good for a one day paddling trip. Briefly about the general area: All the water falling down from the sky makes Emory River a wet spot; March is the wettest month with most rain, and October on the   other hand is the driest. Obed Wild & Scenic River is a glorious place near Emory River. Summertime highs at Emory River usually tend to be in the 80's; all through summer nights temperatures are in the 60's.
