Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in Tennessee are harder than the national norm, so better not forget that many of the sections here are not safe for beginners. The hike up back to parking area section of Gee Creek in Polk County is 1 miles long and it is classified as a class IV-V section by American Whitewater. You might have to     settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. This is a very short section so you'd better be prepared to walk your kayak back to put-in a few times. Great exercise and spending some quality time in nature are sure to keep you coming back for more. You can pitch a tent or park your RV at a nearby campground. Gee Creek doesn't have a lot of paddling stretches, the hike up back to parking area stretch is the only one. Briefly about the general area: The Fishermans Trail is a good hiking trail near Gee Creek. During the warmest time of the year here at Gee Creek, high temperatures generally reach the 80's, and through summer nights temperatures are in the 60's. The wintertime brings highs down to the 40's while the cold winter   nights at Gee Creek are in the 20's. Gee Creek is a wet location that gets much rainfall; all through the month of March you get the most rain around here; October is when it's the driest. On a magnificent day at Gee Creek you can take a hike along the Gee Creek Trail; Hiwassee Gap is also a tremendous place to explore.
