The nature scenery of Fentress County and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream are in themselves reasons enough to come here to paddle. The average Tennessee whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be a bit harder to master than those in other states, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that many of the sections here are not safe for beginners. The starting location is a short drive from Crossville, please print out a copy of the road map further down the page so you won’t get lost. Hurricane Creek doesn't have a lot
of paddling sections, the Camp Ground Road to East Fork Obey section is the only one. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, around here you'll find a large number of good places. This stretch has has enough mileage, suitable for an afternoon
trip. This stretch of Hurricane Creek in Tennessee is 4 miles long and is rated by American Whitewater as a class IV-V section. There's camping available near Hurricane Creek. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. A good workout and a chance to spend some time outdoors have people coming from far and near. The wild scenery of the Cumberland Plateau Mountains is great.
