Whitewater rafting and kayaking in Tennessee is often tougher than elsewhere, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that many of the sections here are not safe for beginners. The nature scenery of Tennessee and the cool fresh water beats anything. If you're coming from Sevierville it's not a long drive at all to the starting location, as you can see on the road map further down. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way this is an area with plenty of places for that. A bit of exercise and just being out on the river for a while
are great attractions for lots of people. This river system is full of great paddling sections, the Sinks to Elbow section is just one of them. For all you camping people there are campgrounds nearby. This is a pretty short section so no need to bring snacks. The Sinks to Elbow
section of Little River in Sevier County is 3.5 miles long and has been determined by American Whitewater to be a class III-IV+ section. The wild scenery of the Great Smoky Mountains is great. No shortage of good hotels, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination.
Briefly about the general area: Little River gets a good deal of water; March is the month that gets the most rain; October meanwhile is the driest month. The warmest time of the year at Little River comes with high temperatures in the 80's. Summer overnight
lows plunge down to the 60's. For the duration of the wintertime highs are usually in the 40's; winter nights come with lows in the 20's to Little River. Little River Gorge is a good spot to spend some time at, and if the weather is fine, you can go for a hike along the Meigs Mountain Trail.
