This section of Little River in Tennessee is 3.5 miles long and is rated by American Whitewater as a class III-IV+ section. If you're coming from Sevierville it's not a long drive at all to the put-in location, please print out a copy of the road map further down the page so you won’t get lost. If you've been whitewater rafting and kayaking outside this state you might find the rivers here a bit more challenging, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that a lot of the rivers here are not suitable for beginners. The river winds through the Great Smoky
Mountains and you get great scenery. There are campgrounds quite near the river where you can camp. Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way in this general area you'll find lots of paddling rivers. There are some good hotels near
the river, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. There are plenty of other sections in this river system that can be paddled as well. A good workout and just being out on the river for a while have a lot of people coming here. This stretch is short so you'd better be prepared to walk your kayak back to put-in a few times. The beautiful scenery of Sevier County and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water are reasons enough to come here and paddle.
Briefly about the general area: Summertime highs at Little River typically tend
to be in the 80's while nighttime lows are generally in the 60's. For the period of the winter highs are commonly in the 40's; after the sun is down through the winter temperatures at Little River dip into the 20's. Nearby Little River Gorge is a wonderful location to go if you're
at Little River, and the Meigs Mountain Trail is a great hiking trail nearby. Little River sees pretty high levels of precipitation; of all the months in a year March is the one with the most rain while October is regularly the driest month. Yep, outdoors entertaining stuff truly is plentiful here in the Great Smoky Mountains.
