The put-in is not too far from Knoxville, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. This section of Little River in Blount County is 22 miles long and is a class I section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. The beautiful scenery of Blount County and the water flowing gracefully down Little River have people coming here. There's camping available near Little River. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, but do book a room before you come because it
is a very popular destination. This section is long enough for an overnight trip if you take your time, so go ahead and pack your camping stuff. Great exercise and spending some quality time in nature will have you coming back for more. Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in
Tennessee tend to be more challenging than the national average, so you'd better keep in mind that rivers here are less forgiving. Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way around here you'll find a large number of good places. There are plenty of other stretches in this river system that can be paddled as well.
Briefly about the general area: Summertime highs at Little River generally tend to be in the 80's. Once the sun is down it descends down to the 60's. Highs through the wintertime are commonly
in the 40's, and night lows at Little River through the winter mostly plunge into the 20's. Tarkiln Valley is a fine spot to stop by close to Little River, and some attention-grabbing geology is available here, Horseshoe Bend is right here. Little River sees pretty high levels of rain; of all the months in a year March is the one with the most rain while October is ordinarily the driest month.
