The put-in is not too far from Crossville, there's a road map further down the page with more info on that. The Muddy Pond Road to Hurricane Creek section of Little Hurricane Creek is 1.5 miles long and is a class IV-V section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. Great exercise and spending some quality time in nature have a lot of people coming here. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, in this general area you'll find lots of paddling places. This stretch is short so better bring some good walking shoes.
If you've been whitewater rafting and kayaking outside this state you might find the rivers here a bit more challenging, so don't forget that the rivers in this state are less manageable. If you're a camper you can camp at one of the great campgrounds nearby. The beautiful Cumberland
Plateau Mountains scenery is an added bonus. The nature scenery of Overton/Fentress County and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream attract people from near and far. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. There are some good stretches to paddle in this river system, the Muddy Pond Road to Hurricane Creek stretch is one of them.
Briefly about the general area: At Little Hurricane Creek during the warm months highs are in the 80's while night
lows are mostly in the 60's. The winter brings highs down to the 40's; winter nights come with lows in the 20's to Little Hurricane Creek. Little Hurricane Creek gets a lot of water; through July this area sees the most rain, and the driest of the months is October. Little Hurricane Creek is in the vicinity of Balden Gulf which is beyond doubt worth visiting.
