Whitewater rafting and kayaking in this state is often more difficult than elsewhere, so better not forget that a lot of the rivers here are not suitable for beginners. The beautiful scenery of Overton/Fentress County and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream beats anything. The campgrounds here at Little Hurricane Creek are pretty good. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. This river system has a few good paddling sections and the Muddy Pond Road to
Hurricane Creek section is one of them. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking there are lots of good places for that around here. The beauty of the Cumberland Plateau Mountains is a great plus for this river. The starting location is a reasonable drive from Crossville,
as you can see on the road map further down. The Muddy Pond Road to Hurricane Creek section of Little Hurricane Creek is 1.5 miles long and has been determined by American Whitewater to be a class IV-V section. This is a somewhat short section so you'd better be prepared to walk your kayak back to put-in a few times. Getting your paddling muscles activated and a chance to spend some time outdoors will have you coming back for more.

night lows are generally in the 60's. The cold days of the winter come with highs in the 40's; winter nights come with lows in the 20's to Little Hurricane Creek. Little Hurricane Creek gets a large amount of water; of all the months in a year July is the one with the most rain while October is commonly the driest month. A journey to Balden Gulf is always fun.
