Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in Tennessee are harder than the national norm, so you'd better keep in mind that rivers here are not as easy as elsewhere. The starting location is a short drive from Athens, as you can see on the road map further down. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, around here you'll find a large number of good places. Getting some good exercise and just hanging out with mother nature have people coming from far and near. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river |

if you want to stay the night, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. This is a pretty short section so better bring some good walking shoes. This is the only paddling section along Little Loss Creek. You can pitch a tent or park your RV at a
| nearby campground. The scenic beauty of Polk County and the cool fresh water attract people from near and far. The Great Smoky Mountains scenery is wonderful.
Briefly about the general area:
There's splendid hiking along the Oswald Dome Trail, and Big Hollow is close by, and is a great place. Little Loss Creek is a reasonably wet place usually with lots of rainfall; the month with most of the rain is March while October is generally the driest month.

is a popular thing to do around Little Loss Creek; Rogers Branch Trail is a good local trail. All through the warm months highs here at Little Loss Creek get into the 80's. Once the sun is down it plunges down to the 60's. Daytime highs all through the winter are in the 40's with winter lows in the 20's overnight here at Little Loss Creek.
