Whitewater rafting and kayaking in Tennessee is often more difficult than elsewhere, so if you're not from around here don't forget that a lot of the rivers here are not suitable for beginners. The put-in location is a short drive from Sevierville, there's a road map further down the page with more info on that. This section of Little Pigeon River - Middle Prong is 1.75 miles long and has been rated as a class V section by American Whitewater. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way this is an area with plenty of places for that.
Getting a good workout and spending some quality time in nature will make you glad you came. This is a bit of a short stretch so no need to bring snacks. The scenic beauty of Tennessee and the water flowing gracefully down Little Pigeon River - Middle Prong are reasons enough to
come here and paddle. The Chimneys Trailhead to Chimneys Picnic Area stretch is one of many paddling stretches in this river system. The beautiful Great Smoky Mountains scenery is an added bonus. You can pitch a tent or park your RV at a nearby campground. No shortage of good hotels, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set.
