The wonderful Sevier County scenery and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream will make you feel great. If you've been out of state whitewater rafting and kayaking you might find the rivers here more demanding, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that a lot of the rivers here are not suitable for beginners. There are so many sections to paddle in this river system, the Chimneys Picnic Area to Campbell Overlook section is just one of many. This stretch of Little Pigeon River - West Prong in Tennessee is 2.5 miles long and is
according to American Whitewater a class IV-V section of whitewater. A bit of exercise and a chance to spend some time outdoors will have you coming back for more. The campgrounds here at Little Pigeon River - West Prong are pretty good. If you'll be staying in a hotel you're in
luck, lodging is available very near the river, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. The starting location is a reasonable drive from Sevierville, as you can see on the road map further down. This is a somewhat short section so no need to bring snacks. The beautiful Great Smoky Mountains scenery is an added bonus. Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way this area has a large number of paddling rivers.

Little Pigeon River - West Prong is a reasonably wet place generally with lots of rainfall; of all the months in a year March is the one with the most rain, and the driest of the months is October. A tour to Great Smoky Mountains National Park is worthwhile, and hey, Gotta

Trail. For the duration of the warm days of summer at Little Pigeon River - West Prong highs are frequently in the 80's. For the duration of the moonlight hours it's mostly in the 60's. Throughout the winter highs are in the 40's with temperatures at Little Pigeon River - West Prong dipping down into the 20's through winter nights.
