The Campbell Overlook to 1st bridge in Gatlinsburg stretch of Little Pigeon River - West Prong in Sevier County is 2.6 miles long and has been determined by American Whitewater to be a class II-V section. The wonderful Sevier County scenery and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water make the trip here worthwhile. If you're coming from Sevierville it's not a long drive at all to the put-in location, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. A bit of exercise and just hanging out with mother nature are sure to keep
you coming back for more. The wild scenery of the Great Smoky Mountains is great. If you're a camper you can camp at one of the great campgrounds nearby. This is not the only paddling stretch in this river system, there are others too. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or
kayaking this area has a large number of paddling places. If you've been whitewater rafting and kayaking outside Tennessee you might find the rivers here a bit more challenging, so you'd better keep in mind that many of the rivers here are not very forgiving. There are plenty of hotels here if you want to spend a night, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. This is a short paddling stretch so you'd better be prepared to walk your kayak back to put-in a few times.

River - West Prong a relatively wet location; the wettest month of the year is regularly March, that's the one that rains the most, and October is the month with the least moisture. If you haven’t been to Great Smoky Mountains National Park, you have to schedule some time for
it while you're here, and the snow is good at Ober Gatlinburg. The warmest time of the year at Little Pigeon River - West Prong arrives with high temperatures in the 80's. Summer night lows sink down to the 60's. The cold days of the wintertime come with highs in the 40's, and nighttime lows in the 20's for Little Pigeon River - West Prong. This is a really good river.
