The starting location is a short drive from Chattanooga, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. The natural beauty of Hamilton County and the cool fresh water make the trip here worthwhile. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking there are lots of good places for that around here. Getting a good workout and just hanging out with mother nature will have you coming back for more. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping
in your car. The Hotwater Road to Back Valley Road stretch of Little Soddy Creek in Hamilton County is 1.6 miles long and is according to American Whitewater a class IV-V+ section of whitewater. If you're a camper you can camp at one of the great campgrounds nearby. This is a bit
of a short stretch so you'd better be prepared to walk your kayak back to put-in a few times. The average Tennessee whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be harder to run than those in other states, so don't forget that rivers here are less forgiving. The beauty of the Cumberland Plateau Mountains is a great plus for this river. The Hotwater Road to Back Valley Road section is one of many paddling sections in this river system.
Briefly about the general area: Hineman Spring is an inspiring location to check out while you're here, and
taking a little tour to close by Clemmons Point is a fine idea. Through the summer months highs here at Little Soddy Creek get into the 80's. For the duration of the dark hours of summer temperatures sink down into the 60's. Highs during the wintertime are typically in the 40's;
after the sun is down during the wintertime temperatures at Little Soddy Creek dip into the 20's. All the water falling down from the sky makes Little Soddy Creek a wet location; through the month of March you get the most rain around here, and October is when it's the driest.
