The starting point is not too far from Crossville, as you can see on the road map further down. The average Tennessee whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be a bit harder to master than those in other states, so better not forget that many of the sections here are not safe for beginners. Getting your paddling muscles activated and spending some quality time in nature are sure to keep you coming back for more. The beautiful scenery of Cumberland County and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water attract people from near and far. The nearby
hotels are a bit away from the river, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. There's camping available near Mammys Creek. There are no other stretches to paddle along Mammys Creek than the US 70 to US 27 stretch. The Cumberland Plateau Mountains scenery is wonderful.
If you hurry you can run this section in a day but why not make it an overnighter, so pack your camp stove. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, this area has a large number of paddling rivers.
Briefly about the general area: Through the months of summer at Mammys Creek highs are generally in the 80's. Once the sun is down it drops down to the 60's. The cold days of the wintertime come with highs in the 40's while Mammys Creek overnight low temperatures during the wintertime are in the 20's. Chickenhouse Hollow
is next to Mammys Creek and is definitely a perfect site to go to, and don't leave Mammys Creek without first paying a visit to Basin Falls. Mammys Creek ordinarily gets lots of rainfall; of all the months in a year March is the one with the most rain while October is the month
with the least amount of precipitation. A river like this is too good to miss. Negro Jumpoff is an out of the ordinary site to have a look at while at Mammys Creek. All year is a delightful time in the Cumberland Plateau Mountains if you like the outdoors.
