Whitewater rafting and kayaking in Tennessee is often more difficult than elsewhere, so if you're not from around here don't forget that a lot of the rivers here are not suitable for beginners. The put-in location is a short drive from Chattanooga, please print out a copy of the road map further down the page so you won’t get lost. A good workout and just hanging out with mother nature are great reasons to come. This stretch of McGill Creek in Tennessee is 7 miles long and is a class IV-V section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. The nature
scenery of Bledsoe / Hamilton County and the playfulness of the water are reasons enough to come here and paddle. You can pitch a tent or park your RV at a nearby campground. On this section you do get some distance, it's good length for a morning trip. The Cumberland Plateau Mountains
scenery is wonderful. Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way this area has a large number of paddling spots. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. The Hendon Road to Coulterville Road section is the only paddling section along McGill Creek.

get into the 80's while night lows are commonly in the 60's. The winter comes with highs in the 40's while McGill Creek night low temperatures during the wintertime are in the 20's. McGill Creek usually gets lots of rain; March is the month that gets the most rain while October is generally the driest month.
