The average Tennessee whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be harder to run than those in other states, so if you're not from around here don't forget that many of the sections here are not safe for beginners. If you're coming from Chattanooga it's not a long drive at all to the put-in location, please print out a copy of the road map further down the page so you won’t get lost. The Cumberland Plateau Mountains scenery is wonderful. And of course, there are campgrounds nearby. The natural beauty of Tennessee and the sparkling of the sunlight
on the water attract people from near and far. The Hendon Road to Coulterville Road section of McGill Creek in Tennessee is 7 miles long and is rated by American Whitewater as a class IV-V section. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, this
area has a large number of paddling rivers. A good workout and a chance to spend some time outdoors will have you coming back for more. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. This is the only paddling section along McGill Creek. This stretch has has enough mileage, it's perfect for a one day trip.

side trip, try Sulphur Spring Hollow. Summertime highs at McGill Creek usually tend to be in the 80's, and the nighttime is a little chillier of course, usually in the 60's. Throughout the winter this place gets highs in the 40's, and winter nights come with lows in the 20's to
McGill Creek. The high level of rain makes McGill Creek a quite wet site; all through March this area sees the most rain, and October on the other hand is the driest. You must stop at Hurricane Point when you're here at McGill Creek, and Hart Spring is a pretty spot to go to while you're at McGill Creek.
