Tennessee whitewater - Middle Creek, Hamilton County Hamilton county, Rainbow Lake to Tennessee River section whitewater kayaking, rafting, and paddling information.     The beautiful scenery of Tennessee and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream have people coming here. The starting location is a short drive from Chattanooga, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. If you've been out of state whitewater rafting and kayaking you might find the rivers here more demanding, so don't forget that a large number of rivers in this state are not easy. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way around here you'll find a large number of good rivers.     Getting some good exercise and spending some quality time in nature are sure to keep you coming back for more. The campgrounds here at Middle Creek are pretty good. This is an extremely short section so you'd better be prepared to walk your kayak back to put-in a few times. Middle Creek doesn't have a lot of paddling sections, the Rainbow Lake to Tennessee River section is the only one. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. Briefly about the general area: All the water falling down from the sky makes Middle Creek a wet place; March is when you get the most rain here, and June is when it's the driest. For the period of the warmest time of the year highs here at Middle Creek get into the 80's; during summer nights temperatures are in   the 60's. The winter brings highs down to the 40's, and night lows in the 20's for Middle Creek. near Middle Creek you'll come across a wooded area called Prentice Cooper State Forest, and you might also want to pay a visit to Tumbling Shoals while you're here at Middle Creek. Interesting geology is available here; Edwards Point is close to Middle Creek, and a short trip to Burnt Cabin Spring is always worthwhile. This is a great river. You simply have to stop at Signal Point while you're here at Middle Creek.
