This stretch of Moccasin Creek in Rhea County is 1 miles long and it is classified as a class I-II section by American Whitewater. The put-in is not too far from Crossville, there's a road map further down the page with more info on that. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. Great exercise and spending some quality time in nature will have you coming back for more. Whitewater     paddling here in the Cumberland Plateau Mountains is a great experience. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking there are lots of good spots for that around here. Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in this state tend to be more challenging than the national average, so don't forget that quite a few of the sections here are not easy. Moccasin Creek doesn't have a lot of paddling sections, the Shut-In Gap Road to Piney River section is the only one. This is a very short stretch so better bring some good walking shoes. If you're a camper you can camp at one of the great campgrounds nearby. Briefly about the general area: All through the summertime at Moccasin Creek highs are usually in the 80's, and through the night it cools down to the 60's. The cold days of the winter come with highs in the 40's with   temperatures at Moccasin Creek dipping down into the 20's through winter nights. Moccasin Creek gets much water; March is the wettest month with most rain, and October on the other hand is the driest. Rowe Spring is a stunning place to stop by while you're at Moccasin Creek.
