If you're coming from Chattanooga it's not a long drive at all to the starting location, please print out a copy of the road map further down the page so you won’t get lost. The natural beauty of Marion County and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream will make you feel great. There are no other stretches to paddle along Mullens Creek than the Prentice Cooper State Park to Mullens Cove stretch. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination.
This stretch is mid length, good for a one day paddling trip. This section of Mullens Creek is 4 miles long and is rated by American Whitewater as a class IV-V(V+) section. If you've been whitewater rafting and kayaking outside Tennessee you might find the rivers here a bit more
challenging, so if you're not from around here don't forget that the rivers in this state are less manageable. For all you camping people there are campgrounds nearby. A bit of exercise and just being out on the river for a while are sure to keep you coming back for more. The beautiful Cumberland Plateau Mountains scenery is an added bonus. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, in this general area you'll find lots of paddling places.

you might not ever want to return back home again. Not far from Mullens Creek you find Elder Point, and Ditch Gap is also a wonderful place to discover. Summer at Mullens Creek arrives with high temperatures in the 80's. For the period of the moonlight hours it's usually in
the 60's. The cold days of the winter come with highs in the 40's with winter lows in the 20's overnight here at Mullens Creek. Mullens Creek is a quite wet place typically with a great deal of precipitation; March is the wettest month with most rain while June is the month with the least amount of precipitation.
