  The Double Bridge to put-in for gorge run stretch of North Chickamauga Creek in Hamilton County is 4 miles long and has been rated as a class II-III section by American Whitewater. The starting location is a reasonable drive from Chattanooga, please print out a copy of the road map further down the page so you won’t get lost. The natural beauty of Tennessee and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water attract people from near and far. If you've been out of state whitewater rafting and kayaking you might find the rivers here more demanding, so better
    not forget that quite a few of the sections here are not easy. A bit of exercise and spending some quality time in nature have people coming from far and near. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way this area has a large number of paddling places. On
this section you do get some distance, good for a one day paddling trip. There are so many sections to paddle in this river system, the Double Bridge to put-in for gorge run section is just one of many. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. For all you camping people there are campgrounds nearby. Whitewater paddling here in the Cumberland Plateau Mountains is a great experience.

Daytime highs through the wintertime are in the 40's; all through the dark hours in the winter at North Chickamauga Creek temperatures dip to the 20's. Chicken Hollow is close to North Chickamauga Creek and is a wonderful spot.
North Chickamauga Creek is a relatively wet place regularly with a great deal of rainfall; the wettest month of the year is generally March, that's the one that rains the most; June on the other hand is the driest.
