This stretch of North Chickamauga Creek in Tennessee is 2 miles long and it is classified as a class III-IV section by American Whitewater. If you're coming from Chattanooga it's not a long drive at all to the starting location, as you can see on the road map further down. The rivers for whitewater rafting and kayaking here in Tennessee are often tougher than in other states, so if you're not from around here don't forget that many of the sections here are not safe for beginners. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking there are lots of good
places for that around here. You can pitch a tent or park your RV at a nearby campground. When you're paddling down a Cumberland Plateau Mountains river like this one you always get great scenery along the way too. Getting some good exercise and just hanging out with mother nature
are great reasons to come. There are plenty of other stretches in this river system that can be paddled as well. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. This is a pretty short section so better bring some good walking shoes. The scenic beauty of Tennessee and the playfulness of the water are reasons enough to come here and paddle.
