If you've been whitewater rafting and kayaking outside Tennessee you might find the rivers here a bit more challenging, so keep in mind that many of the rivers here are not very forgiving. This stretch of North White Oak Creek in Fentress Scott County is 7.8 miles long and has been rated as a class II section by American Whitewater. This is the only paddling section along North White Oak Creek. The wild scenery of the Cumberland Plateau Mountains is great. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem
but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. And of course, there are campgrounds nearby. This is a pretty decent length section, you can easily run it on an afternoon. Getting a good workout and a chance to spend some time outdoors are great reasons
to come. The scenic beauty of Tennessee and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water are in themselves reasons enough to come here to paddle. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking this area has a large number of paddling rivers.
Briefly about the general area: All through the warmest time of the year, highs generally are in the 80's at North White Oak Creek. Summer night lows sink down to the 60's. Throughout the winter highs are in the 40's, and after the sun is down during the wintertime temperatures at North White Oak Creek drop into
the 20's. A large amount of rain falls at North White Oak Creek; most of the rain falls during March while October is the month with the least amount of precipitation. Logging Hollow is next to North White Oak Creek and is certainly a good site to have a look at.
