Says Sharon Maddox If you've been whitewater rafting and kayaking outside Tennessee you might find the rivers here a bit more challenging, so better not forget that rivers here are less forgiving. The US 127 Close to Crossville to Adams Bridge section of Obed River is 9.6 miles long and has been rated as a class I-V section by American Whitewater. The put-in location is a short drive from Crossville, there's a road map further     down the page with more info on that. Getting your paddling muscles activated and just being out on the river for a while have a lot of people coming here. This stretch is mid length, you can easily run it on an afternoon. If you're a camper you can camp at one of the great campgrounds nearby. There are nice comfortable hotels here, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. The wild scenery of the Cumberland Plateau Mountains is great. This river system is full of great paddling stretches, the US 127 Close to Crossville to Adams Bridge stretch is just one of them. The natural beauty of Cumberland/ Morgan County and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water beats anything. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way this area has a large number of paddling spots. Briefly   about the general area: Babcock Hollow is a pleasant place to take a look at nearby, and since you're here at Obed River, checking out Gould Bend is a must. All through the warmest time of the year highs here at Obed River reach the 80's. When the night sets in temperatures dip down into the 60's. Highs through the wintertime are commonly in the 40's while the cold winter nights at Obed River are in the 20's. That right there is a lot of cool things already but it goes on, the Cumberland Plateau Mountains has it all. People from Crossville love to come to Obed River. Obed River gets lots of water; through March this area sees the most rain while October is generally the driest month.
