The rivers for whitewater rafting and kayaking in this state are often tougher than in other states, so if you're not from around here don't forget that the rivers in this state are less manageable. This section is long enough for an overnight trip if you take your time, so why not pack your camping stuff too. The scenic beauty of Cumberland/ Morgan County and the playfulness of the water have people coming here.     And of course, there are campgrounds nearby. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. A good workout and a chance to spend some time outdoors are great attractions for lots of people. The put-in is not too far from Crossville, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking there are lots of good spots for that around here. There are plenty of other sections in this river system that can be paddled as well. Whitewater paddling here in the Cumberland Plateau Mountains is a great experience. Briefly about the general area: At Obed River throughout the warm months highs are in the 80's. During the moonlight hours it's typically in the 60's. For the period   of the wintertime the highs are frequently in the 40's with temperatures at Obed River dipping down into the 20's through winter nights. All the water falling down from the sky makes Obed River a wet place; the month with most of the rain is March while October is the month with the least amount of precipitation.
